Facebook has become so much more than just a way to connect to other people. In fact, it’s one of the major sources for news and information these days. According to a study conducted by Pew Research Center, around 66% of people get their news from the social media giant. But there’s a danger to this and it’s growing bigger everyday. You see, a lot of fake news has been posted so many times in Facebook and people are spreading it exponentially.
Facebook also contributes to this growing problem. The social media website knows what you’re interested in and presents to you links about those topics. Facebook knows what your interactions are, the things you’ve browsed, and content that will make you browse further. That’s why some people have taken advantage of this fact and post a lot of fake news to destabilize organizations, people, and even governments.
So, be careful in reading and sharing what you see in your timeline. Make sure it’s real and not meant to create chaos. Otherwise, you’re just going to be part of the problem, and not the solution.
